Are you at the cutting edge of scientific advancement?
The annual 2025 Vesalius Innovation Award celebrates outstanding innovations from young entrepreneurs and start-ups. This is a unique opportunity for exposure and gives science’s future leaders the chance to take their ideas to the next level.
The award is inspired by surgeon Andreas Vesalius and his 1543 publication "De Humanis Corporis Fabrica". With this body of work, Vesalius revolutionized anatomy and elevated typography and illustration, laying the foundation for future generations to explore the human body from an entirely new perspective.
Now in its sixth year, the Vesalius Innovation Award welcomes early-stage startups that are reimagining how scientific knowledge is communicated, evaluated, and applied. We consider all fields- especially those with relevance to Health Sciences, Open Science, and public engagement.
If your work makes science more accessible, trustworthy, and impactful, this is for you.
Do you have what it takes to spark the scientific revolution?

AuthentiSci is a UK-registered charity harnessing global scientific expertise to improve public understanding of science and counter misinformation. We provide an independent platform where scientists and society connect, creating a trusted channel for clear and reliable guidance on scientific issues. By combining human expertise with responsible technology, AuthentiSci offers a scalable solution to the challenge of misinformation and sets a new standard for how science is communicated in a fast-moving, digital world.

Profectus Academy’s AI proposal developer has been trained on real grant applications and review panels feedback, to help researchers communicate their ideas with clarity and persuasive precision. By democratizing access to proposal support, we empower scientists to focus on their research while ensuring their applications stand out to funders. Our technology bridges communication gaps, enhancing the impact of research proposals.

Safespace Research is a deeptech mental-health project backed by ETH Zürich and the ETH AI Center. It's the first AI support system blending behavioral science, peer networks, and frontier genAI with existing care infrastructure. Safespace operates B2B2C: clients are universities, insurers, and corporations; end-users are their students, beneficiaries, and employees. Universities are our high-need, high-trust beachhead, where services are strained and student risk is high. Proving impact there opens corporate wellness and insurance channels, as telemedicine shifts to hybrid digital-human models.

Scitility is a Public Benefit Corporation committed to strengthening science with innovative digital tools for researchers, publishers, funders, and institutions. Its flagship product, Argos, is an advanced retraction monitoring service that reveals hidden patterns, cascade effects, and questionable collaborations. With daily updates, personalized alerts, and smooth API integration, Argos helps the scientific community track retracted work, and support research integrity teams in identifying dubious studies- published or unpublished- more quickly and effectively.

Thesify.ai empowers the next generation of researchers with AI that respects academic integrity. Our intelligent writing assistant, Theo, provides expert feedback on scientific manuscripts, from papers to proposals to theses - helping students excel without compromising their skills or autonomy. Trusted by 10,000+ academics at leading universities, Thesify offers structured reviews, semantic literature search, and paper digests that enhance learning rather than replace it. Co-founded by former EPFL neuroscientist Marc-Oliver Gewaltig and serial entrepreneur Harm Cronie, Thesify is pioneering responsible AI that builds better researchers, not shortcuts.
